The Shadow Side of Creativity Workshop

We all have a shadow side -- limiting beliefs, old programming, an negative self-talk -- that keep us from fully embodying our potential. Are you a creative, or an aspiring creative, that feels held back by your own (or perhaps external) beliefs and expectations that keep you from starting a project or seeing it through? Are you creatively blocked, burnt out, or stuck in uncertainty? It's a normal part of the creative process, but it's also an opportunity for transformation.

In this 90 minute workshop you'll be guided through a creative mapping exercise designed to help you imagine where you want to be, engage with a community of supportive creatives, and get a brief tarot reading to clarify the blockages you're working through.

You'll leave the workshop with a better understanding as to why you are blocked, where the blocks originate, a map to your envisioned success, and perhaps even a clearer (an bigger) picture of where you'd like to be in the future!

Dark Shines Powerful Opening Night

The solo exhibition, Dark Shines Powerful, features ink drawn illustrations on paper, with little to no color other than black and white, by artist Natalye Valentina. The drawings display skulls, horns, witches, bones, and other mystical content that have historically been deemed as “dark”. The illustrations bring light to the subject matter through delicate and playful contours presenting them as beautiful and benign.

Specialty items such as art prints, zines, stickers, and shirts will also be available for purchase during the First Friday opening reception on September 6th from 6:00-8:00pm.

Natalye Valentina is a visual artist born and raised in the Central Valley and Central Coast of California.

Her drawings, paintings, and prints often depict images of nature and/or women with decorative elements inspired by her interest in magic and parallel realities. Although focused mostly on her illustrations, she occasionally carves designs into wooden objects and also creates small self-published books or “zines”.
